Ten Possible Ways to Enhance Fuel Efficiency in Used Trucks

It is usual that fleet users always like to introduce new ways for cutting down the expenses. One of the best ways is to keep the trucks in good running condition through maintenance. Moreover, modifications can enable the trucks to run smoother and burn the least amount of fuel. Here are some ways, which are suggested by experienced technicians to overcome the fuel cost:

The Effect of Oil Change

Synthetic oil as well as filters of high capacity should be used. Synthetic motor oil is capable to maintain the lubricating attributes for a long time span. As a result engine works with little friction and maintains the temperature of the engine.

Maintain the Exhaust System and Air Filter

Most of the vehicles need an improved exhaust system. High flow exhaust system is better to purchase to enhance the fuel capacity. On the other hand, if the truck is running in a trouble mode, check the exhaust system and improve the air filter as well. Monitor the spark plugs.

When the truck covers 60000 miles distance, replace the spark plugs if there are platinum plugs. In case of copper plugs, replace them after 7000 miles distance. Spark plugs show that the motor is working lean or rich. In case the motor is working rich, the truck will use a lot of fuel. On the other hand, lean mode shows the deficiency of fuel.

Purchase the Tires and Check the Pressure

Purchase one complete set of tires for your truck. There should be one set for snow driving and another set for highway driving. In case you are living in a moderate winter climate, use one set of tires for all roads. Always check the pressure to enhance the fuel capacity. You have to check tire pressure often for better performance.

Helper Springs

Suspension is one of the important things which cannot be ignored. Bulging tires create friction and burn a lot of fuel. Metal springs or air springs help the operator to accommodate the truck load.

Shift and Gear Ratio

In old trucks, life can be increased by transmission repair. Install a new shift kit to enhance the durability and firmer shift.

Cut down Unnecessary Accessories

Check the necessaries used in the truck. If there are additional or extra accessories, it can increase the weight and burn more fuel. You can take off front air dams and bully bars.

Use oil catch can

Oil catch can help by collecting the mist from the rotating parts and protect form gunk. Oil catch can enhance the ability of the engine as it does not let the oil mix with gasoline.

Use new electrical grounds

For older trucks, it is better to use new electrical grounds like 02 sensors, mess air flow, sensors so that computer system can communicate easily with electrical ground.

Use fuel injection purifier

Gasoline is a kind of fuel injection purifier, which is used to clean the intake valves and keeps the upper cylinder lubricate to enhance the maintaining capability.
